ARE YOU PRONED TO SINUSITIS?

Are you suffering from constant sinus issues? Have you been put onto numerous rounds of antibiotic in the hope to clear the never-ending infections? Have you been told that the only option left for you is a surgery? If so, keep reading….



My husband was this person and sadly there are so many people out there suffering with sinusitis. Prior to me studying Ayurveda, I dare say he had probably tried every nose spray on the market. Every winter, he would be on antibiotics to fight recurring infections but sadly nothing seemed to help. After being sent to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist, he was told that the next available option was surgery. No need to say, he was far from thrilled contemplating what seemed to be his last option; however, if that meant saying goodbye to the constant migraines, the infections and claiming his sense of smell and taste back he was willing to go for it.

Luckily for him, Ayurveda came into our life at the right time and he did not have to put himself through this invasive procedure.


You see, Ayurveda explains that mucus, is a by-product of kapha Dosha - he Elements of Earth and Water-

Kapha is one of the doshas that governs the structure of the body. It is the principal that holds the cells together which forms the muscles, fat and bones in the body. A PERSON GOVERNED BY Kapha dosha usually have a strong built and strong stamina.

When our diet and lifestyle cause kapha dosha to increase one will be faced with unpleasant symptoms pointing towards a Kapha imbalance.

THESE INCLUDE:

- Lethargy

- Laziness

- Oversleeping

- Constipation

- Lack of appetite

- Indigestion

- Nausea

- Sense of heaviness

- Mucus in noose throat and stools

- Weight gain

- Water retention

- Pale looking skin .


BALANCING KAPHA DOSHA IN THE BODY

The first thing to do is to bring Kapha dosha back in balance by identifying and eliminating everything that you do and the things that you eat that increases Kapha dosha in your body.


LETS HAVE A LOOK AT THE FOODS THAT INCREASE KAPHA IN THE BODY.
Kapha gets aggravated by foods which are heavy, oily and cold in nature. If you are suffering from issues caused by excess Kapha, These foods will have to go:


MILK, CHEESE, ICE CREAM, BANANAS, BREAD, PASTA, MANANA AND MILK MIXED TOGETHER, SMOOTHIES, CHIPS, CAKES, CONSUMING COLD BEVERAGES, POTATOES CRISPS. NUTS.... JUST TO NAME THE MAIN ONES


EXERCISE

As I mentioned earlier, Kapha dominated people are strong with good stamina but due to their heavier nature can also be lazy and would much rather stay on the couch watching TV.

People with a predominant kapha body type, NEED to exercise more than anyone else. Failing to do so will quickly bring them into a state of imbalance which will increase their sense of heaviness not only in the body but also the mind triggering a feeling of depression.


SPICES

In the case of Kapha aggravation the use of pungent spice mix, like Trikatu is highly recommended to remove the built up of toxins. Trikatu is a potent ayurvedic medicine and kitchen spice made from equal parts of powdered dry ginger, long pepper and black pepper. Due to the sharp pungency of the spices, Trikatu is an effective ayurvedic medicine for digestion, respiratory health and weight loss.
